Cyberpunk 2077 Disaster just got worse — Developers hit by Second lawsuit

The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 did not go well The ambitious sci-fi RPG suffered from mismanaged expectations, game-breaking bugs, and confusing corporate PR that left fans, retailers, and even investors unhappy Less than a month after investors filed a class action lawsuit against CD Projekt Red, publisher of Cyberpunk 2077, another group of investors filed another class action lawsuit with nearly identical content

The information comes from a regulatory announcement by CD Projekt Red via IGN By law, CD Projekt is obligated to disclose basic information about the lawsuit, so we will give you as much information as the company shares: on January 15, a group of American investors filed a lawsuit against CD Projekt Red

"The claims are identical to those disclosed by [CD Projekt], including their subject matter and scope: on December 25, 2020" For those not familiar with the Polish regulator's explanation, the December 25 lawsuit alleges that CD Projekt Red overstated the completeness of Cyberpunk 2077 and that the company is liable for compensation to its investors

What that "something" is, however, is a bit of a mystery Neither the first nor second lawsuits specify exactly what the investors are seeking, but it is reasonable to assume that some amount of money is involved Had "Cyberpunk 2077" been released with any spectacular success, CD Project Red's stock price would have adjusted accordingly, rather than plummeted (If you're curious, check out the stock symbol OTGLY, but the share price has essentially halved since December)

It is not yet clear whether any trial will take place, but it appears that investors want a trial, and CD Projekt Red does not believe that investors have that right

"We will act vigorously to defend ourselves against such claims," the regulatory announcement states

For those who haven't followed the twists and turns of Cyberpunk 2077, the game is full of bugs, from the sublime to the ridiculous, in every version; the PC version runs there, but if you have very powerful hardware, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are mixed However, the PS4 and Xbox One versions are nearly unplayable, which CD Projekt downplays rather than acknowledges

Whether there is a good game beneath the technical issues is another matter of debate Some gamers like the rich, imaginative world and interesting characters, while others lament the relatively simple main quest and somewhat uninspiring shootouts Either way, you can buy the game and judge for yourself (on most platforms) Nevertheless, it might be wise to wait for another major patch first
