With its excellent camera and amazing A14 Bionic chip, the iPhone 12 mini is one of the most advanced flagship phones you can buy in a compact size However, it seems to fail at very basic tasks
Many have reported that the iPhone 12 mini is plagued with lock screen touch screen sensitivity issues This does not look good for any iPhone, let alone the best small phone in years
Users have reported the issue on Reddit, MacRumors, and Apple's own community forums As for the problem itself, it appears to occur when users try to swipe up from the bottom of the lock screen with their thumb, or when pressing the flashlight and camera buttons
Fortunately, while the phone may have trouble registering thumb input, other fingers do not seem to have the same problem Likewise, the sensitivity issue disappears once past the lock screen
It has also been reported that connecting the phone to a wall charger or touching the frame without a case solves the problem This has led some users to speculate that it may be a conductivity or grounding issue
At the time of this writing, there has been no official announcement from Apple regarding this issue While it is easy to work around this issue, it is still not expected in the latest iPhone flagship
We did not experience this lock screen sensitivity issue in our review of the iPhone 12 mini, but we plan to conduct additional testing to see if we can reproduce this issue
Hopefully someone will get to the bottom of this issue, figure it out, and if possible, Apple will release a software update to resolve this issue Assuming, of course, that this is a software issue and not some flaw in the design or manufacturing process of the iPhone 12 mini
