As the launch of the PS5 approaches, it is becoming clear that there are still many things we don't know about the console and its accessories However, there are still ways in which those secrets can be revealed
Take the DualSense controller, for example, which is now available for purchase ahead of the PS5's November 12 launch date, and in a new teardown video, you can see what the internals look like, including how the new adaptive triggers work
We've already had a glimpse at the inner workings of the DualSense trigger, but this video by TronicsFix gives a more detailed look at how it works and how it is designed to enhance the gaming experience
The full teardown can be seen below, but the analysis of the trigger begins around 9:19
You can see how advanced the new adaptive trigger system really is, its inner workings and how the gears and spiral mechanism work together to change resistance It's quite ingenious up close, and while not a particularly complex setup, it should go a long way toward increasing your immersion in the game
Let's say you're playing the upcoming "Horizon Forbidden West" and you're firing Aloy's trademark bow With the traditional DUALSHOCK 4 system, you couldn't feel much during the action, but with DualSense's adaptive triggers, you should be able to feel the tension increase as you pull the bowstring Frankly, this is far more interesting for the gameplay experience than the frame rate resolution, and is the sort of thing that will likely give the PS5 an even greater advantage over the Xbox Series X
TronicsFix also states that the entire mechanism is modular, so if something breaks, there is no need to replace anything but the affected part Also, since everything is held in place by screws, repairs should not be too difficult
Other highlights inside the DualSense include a larger battery (1,560 mAh versus 1,000 mAh), a larger and more advanced tactile vibration motor, and improved cushioning around buttons not seen before [TronicsFix noted that the DualSense analog sticks are exactly the same as those on the DualShock 4 He notes that analog sticks have been prone to failure and stick drift in the past and could not be easily replaced Therefore, problems could occur after a few years, especially if you plan to play a lot
Nonetheless, the DualSense is quite exciting We've already asserted that it's one of the coolest controllers ever made and one of the most exciting PS5s ever made Honestly, this is all due to the immersive experience, and the adaptive triggers play a key role As mentioned in the hands-on, the triggers, speakers, and haptic feedback work together to provide an unparalleled tactile experience
One can only hope that Sony applies this immersive experience to PSVR 2
