Forget Galaxy Z Fold2: LG Wing Leak Reveals Stunning Dual Screen Design

LG is set to launch its previously teased rotating smartphone on September 14, and the device, called the LG Wing, will feature a 68-inch display that can be rotated from vertical to horizontal

And now, official renderings of the LG Wing have leaked, along with several videos showing how this odd thing works

The latest LG Wing leak comes via Evan Blass (via 9to5 Google) and shows the front and back of the device The top display can be rotated to allow the lower 4" panel to be used in various positions

Unfortunately, the secondary display has a large bezel that seems to detract from the device's aesthetics According to rendered images, the LG Velvet will be available in white and black, and will have a triple camera on the back

So what can we do with the LG Wing? The first Wing video posted by Android Authority shows a person driving and attaching the Wing to a car windshield mount The top panel has already been rotated, and a large vertical display controls maps and navigation, while a smaller display controls media At one point the driver can receive a phone call, which can also be made from a second screen

In another video from the same source, the wing is used for a game The title in question appears to be "Asphalt 9 Legend," but the gameplay takes place on the main display, with the track map displayed on a 4-inch panel below it

Finally, another clip shows Wing's upper display rotating back to its original position When the phone is held normally, Wing takes on a "T" shape, but the person in the video seems to have some difficulty moving the display with one hand while holding the phone

When the top panel is returned to its original position, the extra screen area shows that the Wing appears only slightly thicker than a traditional candy bar style phone

In a year when foldable phones like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Microsoft's Surface Duo are in the fold, the LG Wing may win the prize as the weirdest phone of the year

LG is no stranger to strange handsets, having released the G Flex in 2013, when the industry was beginning to become fascinated with curved displays; the G Flex's screen was curved from top to bottom, rather than side to side

LG Wing's rationale seems to be that a phone with more displays is more beneficial for multitasking than a phone with only one, but the leaked design may present ergonomic challenges

Under the hood, the phone is said to be powered by Qualcomm's mid-range 5G-enabled chipset, the Snapdragon 765G As we discovered in our LG Velvet review, the Velvet effectively used the same CPU; according to ETNews, there could be as many as three cameras on the back of the Wing

We are confident that LG envisions numerous scenarios where the Wing's unique design might be useful, and will share them when the Wing is officially unveiled on September 14
