New renderings of the Motorola Razr 2 have been released by regular tech leaker Evan Blass
Blass tweeted a GIF of the phone, which looks a lot like last year's previous model This may be a disappointment to some, as the Motorola Razr failed to impress us when we reviewed it
However, while we had many problems with the materials the phone uses and its disappointing camera, we liked its sleek foldable design Therefore, Motorola has room to further develop the foldable phone as well as add 5G connectivity
However, Blass's leaked renderings don't reveal much more than the phone's design He tweeted its name, confirming that the Razr 2 will be called the Moto Razr 5G
The Razr 5G looks very similar to its predecessor, but the notches on either end of the handset have been slightly reduced and smoothed out Also, the fingerprint sensor on the bottom bezel of the handset appears to have been completely removed
Motorola may have opted for a scanner under the display, or it may have been operated for some form of facial recognition technology Either way, the removal of the somewhat unattractive fingerprint scanner gives the Razr 5G a more refined appearance
That's all we can tell from the leaked renderings However, earlier leaks suggest that the Razr 5G will feature a Snapdragon 765 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage It also appears to have a 48MP main camera and a 20MP front-facing camera The battery is expected to be 2,845mAh, a 345mAh upgrade over the previous model
With the increased specs and a more sleek design, the Razr 5G could be a decent upgrade over the previous model However, that phone sold for $1,500, which was expensive for a phone with sub-flagship specs
So Motorola will either need to improve the build quality of the Razr 5G or lower the price to something more affordable After all, for $1,299 you can get Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
