The OnePlus 8T could more than double the wattage of wired charging, one of the OnePus 8 Pro's best features
MySmartPrice (via AndroidCentral) has discovered that OnePlus has registered a new 65W output charger with German certification service TÜV Rheinland This is more than three times the wattage of Apple's 18W fast charger that comes with the iPhone 11 Pro
(It may be a somewhat close match for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which has a 45W charger option, and some upcoming Sasmung Galaxy Note 20 models) Samsung's other flagship models have smaller 25W chargers [OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro both use 30W wired charging, and the 8 Pro can also charge wirelessly at 30W if charged on OnePlus' own charging stand
According to our tests, the OnePlus 8 Pro already charges very quickly, reaching 63% capacity in 30 minutes in our tests, but faster is always welcome
The 65W figure means that it is likely the same charger that OnePlus' stablemate Oppo talked about a few months ago with its Reno Ace and Reno Ace2 smartphones OnePlus' Warp Charge and Oppo's VOOC system are almost identical, so it would not take a huge amount of work for OnePlus to adapt the charging technology for its own phones
Hopefully, we won't have to wait until next year's OnePlus 9 (or whatever the final name is) to see the debut of this technology; OnePlus has been releasing OnePlus T versions of its phones in the fall for the past few years, making small but welcome changes to the phones it released in the spring The company has been a major player in the market for the past few years Manufacturers will only start seeking certification closer to launch, so we should see this new standard in the OnePlus 8T Pro (or OnePlus 8T) in a few months
OnePlus revealed the 7T and 7T Pro last year in late September/early October, which is probably when we will see the 8T and 8T Pro launch this year, even though the coronavirus outbreak is affecting existing plans
