According to a tweet shared today by Chicago-based Motorola, Motorola will launch its next flagship smartphone series to rival the Galaxy S20 on April 22
The Motorola Flagship Launch E-vent will take place next Wednesday, April 22 at 11:00 AM CT/12:00 PM EST Motorola is expected to announce two new "Edge" devices at this online press conference, including the outstanding Moto Edge Plus
The "Edge" series is positioned to replace the modular Moto Z family, which was first launched in 2016; our review of the Moto Z4 showed that Motorola's latest device offers a decent 5G-enabled experience at a budget price, but Google lagged behind competitors like the Pixel 3a; if rumors about the Moto Edge's increased processing power prove true, Motorola may be able to return to the premium flagship market
The Moto Edge Plus is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor, the same chipset as the Samsung Galaxy S20 and LG V60 ThinQ 5G
Motorola's new model is also rumored to feature a 667-inch display with a faster 90Hz refresh rate, bringing the Edge Plus in line with the likes of the Google Pixel 4 and OnePlus 7T It is also expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery and a triple camera, centered around a 108-megapixel main sensor and a 25-megapixel front camera
It is also expected that a lower-priced Edge device with less capable hardware and a smaller 64-megapixel main sensor will be offered alongside the Edge Plus
Of course, this is all speculation; the Motorola Flagship Launch E-vent teaser video does not confirm previous leaks and rumors, but we may learn more as the launch date approaches
