Disney Plus is not for adults, and its sad Valentine's Day collection proves it

Valentine's Day falls on a Friday this year But if you're thinking of chilling at Disney Plus instead, don't fret Because the streaming service's Valentine's Day collection is sadder than sitting alone in a dark room eating an entire box of heart-shaped chocolates

Since its launch in November, Disney Plus has proven to be great for kids and people with kids Not so much for adults (unless you like to watch classic cartoons over and over again, which I'm sure you don't) I've only seen three on Disney Plus: Frozen, The Avengers: Frozen, Avengers: Endgame, and The Mandalorian And I haven't seen a single "The Mandalorian" since it finished its first season in December Not one

It wasn't for lack of trying; I scrolled through various sections, including "Throwbacks," "Nostalgic Movies," and even "Inspired By True Stories," looking for movies and shows to stream Nothing piqued my interest

Then I saw that Disney Plus had recently added a Valentine's Day collection Being a fan of romantic comedies and dramas, I eagerly clicked on it

Cinderella I figured it out Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Hmmm, got it Hercules (!?)

There are some really good films in this collection featuring great love stories Who wouldn't cry over Carl and Ellie in Up? The animated Beauty and the Beast is an old classic romance story In "WALL-E," an adorable and unique pair is featured

Of the 27 films in this group, 17 are animated For the rest of Valentine's Day, "High School Musical: The Musical Series," the live-action remake of "Lady and the Tramp," or "Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings" are You may also want to watch If that's your thing, go ahead

But where are the live-action films for adults? There are about five in this collection: While You Were Sleeping, Never Been Kissed, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Princess Diaries, and Tuck Everlasting The latter three films are aimed at teens, but can be enjoyed by many adults However, if you are not interested in teen movies, this Disney Plus V-Day collection offers only two options

I understand that Disney Plus was never intended to house a large amount of Disney-owned adult content (that's what Hulu is for, after all), but a broader selection of movies and shows outside of Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel would would be nice

Meanwhile, the best romantic movies on Netflix range from "The Notebook" to "Grease" to "Something's Gotta Give," not to mention originals like "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" and "Set It Up" In addition, there are dozens of browseable films by various subgenres, including romantic dramas, foreign romance films, and (my recommendation) inspirational 20th century period pieces

The poor lineup of Disney Plus' Valentine's Day collection adds to my general dissatisfaction with the streaming service Disney Plus, I want to quit But unlike some people who can cancel and come back for the new Marvel shows in August, I signed up for Disney Plus for three years In my case, like many others, it's hard to part ways
