Bethesda has released a fresh "Starfield" trailer that provides more information about the game's science fiction world and showcases various concept art along with very brief snippets of gameplay
The trailer is only a minute and a half long, but it is surprisingly packed with detail Emil Pagliarulo, the game's design director, narrates and introduces The Settled Systems This is an area of space about 50 light years away from the solar system and is the primary setting of Starfield
The game takes place in the year 2330, but the trailer indicates that 20 years earlier, things were not so peaceful During this time, two factions, the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective, were engaged in a bloody struggle for control of the star system
Today, however, there is an uneasy peace between these two groups Don't be surprised if that peace is a bit shattered in the course of Starfield's main campaign It is not only these two groups that you will encounter, but other threats within The Settled Systems include mercenaries, space pirates, thuggish aliens, and religious fanatics
The trailer consists mainly of rather beautiful concept art, showing everything from seedy underworlds to high-tech metropolises, but there is also a brief snippet of gameplay at the very end These few seconds of footage show a rocket being prepared for launch, but unfortunately nothing else
Starfield will be Bethesda Game Studios' first new original RPG in 25 years after spending the past two decades on The Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises It will also be the first since the development studio was acquired by Microsoft in 2020 As a result of the acquisition, the game will be exclusive to the Xbox Series X of consoles, and PS5 players will not be able to play the game
The game is currently scheduled for release on November 11, 2022, giving players plenty of time to scour the Xbox Series X inventory before then The RPG will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at the same time as its release
