The new larger iMac could be on the way with the M1X chip

Apple's new silicon-powered iMac is big, but certainly not big enough for most people But don't expect Apple to replace the 24-inch iMac (24-inch, 2021) with a 27-inch model that rivals the current Intel-powered iMac

Gurman posted this idea on Bloomberg's Power On newsletter, saying (via MacRumors) "I believe there will be a larger, redesigned iMac to replace the Intel 27-inch model Apple has increased the screen size of the smaller model from 215" to 24", which seems to indicate that the 27" model may be upsized as well

His logic here is strong However, this is still only an informed inference If Gurman had received such information on the upcoming XL iMac from an insider, he would mention "sources familiar with the project" In other words, he may have more inside information on this topic than he is giving away, but just decides he wants to frame the possibility differently

Garman seems confident that Apple will release this larger iMac: "But I don't think Apple will release a larger model with the same M1 chip as the smaller model However, I don't think Apple will release a large model with the same M1 chip as the M1 in the smaller model

This is not the first time that Apple has talked about launching an even larger iMac In April of this year, Twitter-based leaker L0vetodream posted, "The iMac screen is really big, bigger than the biggest one"

In the same newsletter, Gurman said the iPad mini 6 will undergo "the biggest redesign in (its) nine-year history" and will resemble the iPad Air 2020 in some ways
