The new iPad Mini 6 reportedly launches this fall with the "biggest redesign" in 9 years

The new iPad mini is expected to arrive this fall with a refreshed and long overdue redesign

This is according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who stated in his latest Power On newsletter (via 9to5Mac) that the iPad mini 6 (as we will call it) "should" be released this fall Garman noted that the design will be reminiscent of the latest iPad Air, and that a significantly slimmer bezel will allow the next mini to have a larger display but a similar chassis size to the current iPad mini 5

In his newsletter, Garman said that the iPad mini 6 could be the "biggest design change in the compact tablet's nine-year history That means not only a larger display, but also more features, such as a Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into the power button like the iPad Air

An improved chipset is also expected, probably the A15 Bionic tipped for the iPhone 13 Our logic is that if Apple releases a new iPad at the same time as the new iPhone (the next iPhone is also due out this fall), the tablet could use the same chip as the new iPhone

The iPad mini was last refreshed in 2019 However, with the exception of a laminated Retina display, a faster chipset in the form of A12 Bionic, and support for the first-generation Apple Pencil, the current mini was rather similar to its predecessor

The actual overall design and size of the iPad mini has not really changed since its 2012 debut Therefore, the iPad mini, like the standard iPad with larger bezels than the Air and Pro models, is approaching a point where a proper redesign is needed

To conclude his newsletter, Gurman also noted that another iMac is on the way and will feature a larger display than the new 24-inch iMac 2021 This is consistent with other rumors we have heard, and we expect the successor to the 27-inch iMac will likely feature a new Apple Silicon chip, such as the M1X chipset or the Apple M2 chip

If Gurman's information is on target (he appears to have inside sources, but we cannot confirm this), Apple will have a busy fall Especially since we expect to see both a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and a MacBook Pro 16-inch with new designs, mini LED displays, and a new M1X chip
