I don't use a standing desk in my office or at home, but I might be tempted to switch to a standing desk from Vari Electric This standing desk is the easiest to assemble ever Plus, it looks great and is very sturdy
After comparison testing with several other models, we found this desk to be easily the best standing desk you can buy; read the rest of our Vari Electric standing desk review to see if it's right for you
The Vari electric standing desk comes in a variety of sizes and finishes: $695 for 48 x 30 inches, $755 for 60 x 24 inches, $795 for 60 x 30 inches, and $895 for 72 x 30 inches All are available in five colors: reclaimed wood, white, butcher block, black, and dark wood
The 60 x 30-inch model I tried is the company's most popular version It handles up to 200 lbs
Vari also sent an optional cable management tray ($50) This tray can be screwed onto the back of a desk to keep power cables and cords out of the way The company also sells other accessories such as power strips, power hubs, and desk lamps with wireless charging pads
The Vari electric standing desk is simple, elegant, and solid The wooden top of the model I reviewed is over an inch thick and seemed more solid than other models I tested A convenient cutout in the back of the desk allows cables to be run from top to bottom
Just below the front lip is a small control panel This is mounted on the right side of the desk, but can easily be moved to the left side by removing two screws The control panel has arrows to move the desk height up or down, and a small LCD display on the left side shows the exact height in inches or centimeters (switchable between metric and imperial) You can also set four preset heights and set maximum and minimum height limits
The Vari desk can be lowered to 25 inches (635 cm) and raised to a height of 505 inches (128 cm) It can support up to 200 pounds, so you can sleep on this desk without fear of breaking it However, the Uplift V2 and Full Jarvis standing desks can support up to 350 pounds if they are used for working on car transmissions
I like that the company includes two hooks to secure purses, headphones, etc to the sides of the desk and six velcro-like straps to keep various cables organized It also comes with a silicone coaster to keep the coffee rings from leaving a residue on the otherwise nice standing desk
Of all the things I assembled at home, the Vari Electric standing desk was definitely one of the easiest Even the best office chairs took longer to assemble
The desk is assembled with only eight screws, four to secure the legs to the top of the desk and four to connect the legs to the feet A small control panel slides into the front of the desk and a control unit slides into the center of the underside
The company claims it takes about five minutes to complete, but I believe the whole thing took about 15 minutes Still, that was half the time it took me to assemble the other standing desks
If I were designing a model of a home office, the Vari Electric standing desk would be the centerpiece I liked the tactile, warm reclaimed wood finish, with just enough texture (smooth but slightly raised grain) to make it interesting to the touch The beveled edges also add elegance [The up and down movement of the desk was smooth and stable, and the desk felt very solid It did sway a bit when the height was maximized, but not enough to make me worry that it might topple over
The Vari Electric standing desk is not only one of the best looking standing desks, it is also one of the easiest to assemble They are not as expensive as other standing desks [For example, a 48 x 30" Vari desk costs $695, an uplift desk of the same size costs $708, and a 48 x 30" full Jarvis bamboo standing desk with programmable controls costs $640
If you need a standing desk for your home office, the Vari should be at the top of your list
