Who is Daeron Targaryen? Why was he cut from "House of Dragons" Season 1?

"House of Dragons" Season 2 did! - But will the Targaryen clan, including Emma Darcy's Lenila, Matt Smith's Daemon, and Tom Glynn-Kearney's Aegon II, be joined by members of a dragon-driven dynasty?

Fantasy site WinterIsComingNet recently reported that the character "Daeron Targaryen" appears to have been cut from the first season of the "Game of Thrones" prequel series Twitter user @darksvster shared a portion of the script for "House of Dragons" Season 1, Episode 7, "Driftmark"

In the scene, Aemon Targaryen (played as a child by Leo Ashton and as an adult by Ewan Mitchell in the HBO drama) asks his grandfather, Sir Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), about the safety and whereabouts of Daeron, whom he calls his "brother" Otto tells him that "Daeron's place is in Oldtown," but the Targaryen boy "grows up like a squire under his uncle Robert He has a thick skin"

So, as in George R R Martin's 2018 book "Fire and Blood," on which "The House of the Dragon" is based, there are actually five Targaryen brothers born to the late King Viserys (Paddy Considine) We have only met four of Viserys' children on screen so far: Rhaenyra, Aegon II, Aymond, and Helena (played by Evie Allen as a child and Fia Saban as an adult) We have not yet encountered Daeron, Viserys' youngest son, but cut dialogue suggests that he is canonical in the TV version

Martin affirmed as much in a blog post on his website in October 2022: "Yes, Alicent gave Viserys four children: three sons and one daughter [especially given that the HBO series is said to be more aggressively changing Rainila's storyline and fast-forwarding the bloody sibling feud between her and her half-brother Aegon II over their father's throne

In various "Game of Thrones" spin-off series currently in production, including the Dunk and Egg prequel (the latter being the future King Aegon V Targaryen) and the "Aegon the Conqueror" series about the life of the founder and first king of the Targaryen dynasty that conquered the continent of Westeros and we will learn even more about the members of House Targaryen

Tom's Guide will provide an update on exactly when "House of Dragons" Season 2 is scheduled to premiere and whether Daeron Targaryen will be included in its lengthy list of characters Until then, Westeros fans can revisit both "Game of Thrones" and "House of Dragons" with Max's subscription
