So far, much of the action in the "Game of Thrones" prequel series "House of the Dragon" revolves around the Targaryen clan, with siblings Rhaenyra (Emma Darcy) and Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Kearney) in a fierce Aegon II (Tom Gryn-Kearney) fight fiercely for their late father's throne (You can choose which side to root for in this cool dueling trailer)
But Season 2 of "House of Dragons" also features another Westerosi family that anyone who watched the original HBO series will recognize: the Starks
Led by Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark, played by Sean Bean, the Starks are a prominent Westerosi family and the royal family of the Northern Kingdom based in Winterfell Robb (Richard Madden), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Arya (Maisie Williams), Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), and their half-brother, Jon Snow (Kit Harington), starred in "Game of Thrones Now, another member of the Stark family will appear in "House of Dragons," returning to HBO and Max this June
In December 2023, Entertainment Weekly revealed that "The Dark Tower" actor Tom Taylor will play the role of Cregan Stark This means that he will essentially be Ned Stark's OG and the "GOT" character's great-great-grandfather
Cragan Stark's appearance was teased in that shocking "House of Dragons" Season 1 finale We all know how that turned out when Rhaenyra strategically sent her son Lucerys Velarion (Elliot Grifolt) to Storm's End in an attempt to gain support for her claim to the throne, but she also sent her brother Jakaerys (Harry Collette) north to Winterfell for the same reason She sent him north to Winterfell The battle for the Targaryen succession, known as the Dance of Dragons, will officially break out in the second season of the prequel, so Cregan will likely play a larger role in the new episodes In George R R Martin's book on which [House of Dragons] is based, Cregan and the rest of the northern regions cooperate with Rhaenyra's cause during "The Dance of Dragons" However, as EW points out, Martin's book intentionally leaves out exactly what happened between Jakaris, Cregan, and the rest of Winterfell
Speaking of which, Season 2 of "House of Dragons" will return on HBO and Max on Sunday, June 16, which, thankfully, is much sooner than originally thought While we wait to see how Lord Cragan Stark will get involved in the business of the Targaryens, you can watch all episodes of "HOTD" Season 1 again if you subscribe to Max Also, be sure to bookmark Tom's Guide for new information and updates on the second season of "House of the Dragon"
