Reservations for Samsung's Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have been delayed and in some cases canceled due to concerns about the quality of the new earphones
The standard Galaxy Buds 3 does not appear to be affected at all, but users who received early samples say the Pro version has some issues These include uneven gaps between panels, inconsistent finishing, strange behavior of the stem blade lights, and ear tips that tear upon removal
In my own sample, the lights and ear tips appear to be working fine, and the overall finish all looks fine However, I found that the two earbuds have slightly different seams separating the stalk and ear-tip sections
Samsung's statement on this matter to Android Authority is that it has received “reports of a limited number of early production Galaxy Buds 3 Pro devices” The statement continued that Samsung is “urgently evaluating and enhancing its quality control processes” and has “temporarily suspended shipments of Galaxy Buds 3 Pro devices to distribution channels in order to conduct a full quality control assessment before any shipments are made to consumers Finally, he apologized to affected users and said that anyone experiencing problems “should contact Samsung or visit their nearest Samsung service center”
Samsung gave the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro the same release date as many other new devices: July 24 However, this may no longer be accurate Samsung's own website now lists August 28 as the ship date for new orders, and Best Buy's page now lists the Buds 3 Pro as “coming soon,” rather than 24 as the release date Amazon, on the other hand, has removed the listing entirely, and Samsung's page states that it is “currently unavailable”
According to an Android Authority reader who sent in screenshots, even some pre-orders have already been warned of possible shipping delays
The revelation of such problems with the Buds 3 Pro is unfortunate for Samsung and especially for its potential and pre-order customers While it is theoretically good that it was addressed before Buds was widely marketed, it is infuriating that it was not discovered sooner
Fortunately, more products were announced in Galaxy Unpacked, and as far as we know now, there are no major manufacturing defects If you're curious, see our reviews and hands-on first impressions of the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra
