“Gifted” is one of my favorite comfort movies This comedic drama is a perfect example of a feel-good movie that will lift your spirits after a long day And with Chris Evans in his usual charisma and a young McKenna Grace co-starring with him, “gifted” has a youthful energy that will entertain even the most clinical viewer Watch this film and try to smile all the way through

“gifted/gifted” centers on Frank Adler (Evans) and his young niece Mary (McKenna Grace) After the death of Frank's sister (and Mary's mother), Frank becomes Mary's de facto guardian However, his desire for Mary to have a normal childhood is threatened when she begins to exhibit mathematical abilities beyond her years As a result, Frank's feisty mother Evelyn (Linsday Duncan) shows up and demands that Mary be sent to a school for gifted children

I have to admit: I wasn't interested in “Transformers: The Beasts Strike Back” when I saw it in theaters last summer Neither were the critics who gave it a low 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes But the action epic was well received by fans The audience score on the same review aggregation site was an impressive 91% So I'm willing to accept the possibility that my opinion is an outlier In other words, if you like the usual “Transformers” series, you will love this movie

Made before Michael Bay's 2007 “Transformers,” “Rise of the Beast” is a crowd-pleasing throwback set in the 1990s and inspired by the popular “Beast Wars” line of transforming toys Starring Anthony Ramos and Dominic Fishback, the film predictably follows a group of humans caught up in an endless war between Autobots and Decepticons This time around, the Maximals, a race of Transformers that look like earthly animals like gorillas and eagles, are added to the mix

If you crave CGI-heavy spectacle, this movie has plenty of it, but beware that the actual story gets buried in the action
