Nicole Kidman, of “The Perfect Couple,” will be the new Prime Video crime show with Jamie Lee Curtis

Netflix's mystery thriller “The Perfect Couple,” starring Nicole Kidman, is still in Netflix's top 10 weeks after its premiere

Those who were glued to the screen for this Netflix drama will be excited to learn that Kidman is slated to star in a new crime drama on another top streaming service

Yesterday, there was a major update regarding “Scarpetta,” the Prime Video adaptation of the best-selling novel “Kay Scarpetta” by Patricia Cornwell The series was first announced in February 2023 and has been in development for over a year

Kidman will play the title role, and Jamie Lee Curtis, who also executive produces and stars in the film (no doubt hoping to avoid a flop like “Borderlands”) will play her sister Dorothy

Of her new role, Kidman says: “To be united with the formidable Jamie Lee Curtis, Prime Video, Jason Blum, and David Gordon Green in the Liz Sarnoff series version of Patricia Cornwell's epic and thrilling book I feel like I'm destined to be a part of it I can't wait to play Kay Scarpetta and am so grateful to Patricia Cornwell for entrusting me with her”

If you are not familiar with Cornwell's work, Kay Scarpetta is an accomplished forensic pathologist who has solved a large number of cases over the years According to Prime Video, the series follows Chief Medical Examiner Kay as she returns to Virginia to assume her former position Prime Video promises that the show will feature “complex relationships, both personal and professional,” and that “many grudges and secrets will be revealed”

In addition to Curtis and Kidman, the “Scarpetta” cast includes other big names Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Dorothy's daughter, Lucy Farinelli-Watson, are also confirmed Rosie McEwen and Jake Cannavale will also play younger versions of Kay and Pete, respectively

Amazon is clearly convinced that the show is worth watching, as it has received a two-season order since its inception Sadly, however, a release date for “Scarpetta” has not yet been set But in the meantime, if you're looking for something new to stream, don't forget to check out Prime Video's best shows and Netflix's best shows right now
