According to Bloomberg, Disney Plus is expanding its streaming horizons with the launch of four new live channels later this year These “always-on” channels are expected to increase subscriber retention by making the viewing experience more vibrant and engaging and lowering churn rates
This feature is expected to set Disney Plus apart from other platforms, make it more attractive to current and prospective subscribers, and put it a step ahead in the bustling streaming scene
Channels include Real Life, Hallowstream, Throwbacks, and the highly anticipated Hits and Heroes The Hits and Heroes channel in particular promises to offer fans a diverse selection of action-packed movies and series from Disney's vast library
These channels will be available only to Premium subscribers on ad-free plans, and content will be updated monthly The move builds on Disney's recent venture into continuous live streaming, following the debut earlier this month of a 24/7 channel dedicated to ABC News and Disney Junior
Disney Plus President Alisa Bowe said the channel is like a playlist for viewers: “The playlist is the latest example of how we provide the best value and experience every time a subscriber opens Disney Plus With news, children's content, popular genres, hit TV shows, blockbuster movies, and more, there will be something for everyone in a lean, season- and interest-based viewing experience"
[10The news also comes at an opportune time, given that Disney Plus is offering limited-time deals The ad-supported Disney Plus Basic plan is available for just $199 per month for the first three months (campaign ends September 27) If you enjoy the streaming service and want access to live channels in the coming months, you will need to switch to a premium subscription
Each of the new Disney Plus channels will offer different types of content: Real Life will feature documentaries and biopics, giving viewers a deeper dive into real-life stories and historical events; Hallowstream (which I personally enjoy) stuff) will focus on a curated selection of spooky and seasonal content, including classic Halloween specials and family-friendly horror films
Throwbacks offer a nostalgic viewing experience and are perfect for those looking to revisit classic Disney content Finally, there is Hits & Heroes, which focuses on action-packed entertainment, including Star Wars and Marvel favorites such as The Mandalorian and Andor The channel aims to deliver thrilling blockbusters 24/7
The great thing about these channels is that you can tune in at any time and find a show that suits your interests These channels deliver content on an ongoing basis, but they follow a set schedule and rotation, so there is always something going on Want to travel to a galaxy far, far away or dive into some superhero action? Disney Plus has you covered
The Hits and Heroes channel will be coming to Disney Plus this fall
