Before Apple's Glowtime event on September 9, rumors were rife that several devices would debut, including the next-generation Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the affordable Watch SE 3 Not much of a surprise, given that the day before the event there were reports that neither wearable would be announced [However, according to a new post by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, both smartwatches will be available in 2025
To be fair to Kuo, he had predicted that we would not see either watch in October 2023 But then he changed his mind and claimed that an updated wearable would be released this year In hindsight, we like to think he was referring to the Ultra Watch 2's new satin black finish
Now he states that “new Apple Watch models in 2025 will include the Ultra 3 and an upgraded version of the SE”
While a year is a wide open window for Apple to announce a new smartwatch, one can make some guesses as to when Apple might announce a new Ultra Watch and SE watch
There are rumors that Apple is about to release a major upgrade fourth version of the wallet-friendly iPhone SE in the spring of 2025; the iPhone SE 3, announced and released in March 2022, is almost obsolete Normally, Apple prefers to stick to a very similar release schedule, so we would not be surprised if the iPhone SE (2025) appeared in March as well
Apple may want to launch the SE devices together, so we may see the Cupertino company debut a third-generation Watch SE alongside the new iPhone SE If that happens, both devices will have access to Apple Intelligence, which will slowly roll out over the next few months
As for the Apple Watch Ultra 3, we won't see the upgraded smartwatch until next September Our guess is that the Ultra 3 will appear with the iPhone 17 lineup, and Apple may drop the Plus name and opt for the original iPhone Air or iPhone 17 Slim
Either way, we will have to wait a few more months for the new wearable apple device to reach our wrists In the meantime, the Apple Watch Series 10 has been released and is quite impressive
