One of the biggest news from the Glowtime event for the Airpods line was the new noise-cancelling version of AirPods 1, 4 This feature was usually reserved for the most expensive models of AirPods Pro2 and AirPods Max, but the slightly more expensive version of the base model AirPods brought this feature to the masses
which made many of us wonder — where does it leave the AirPods Pro2 and its noise cancellation? Is it just a silicon ear chip that is now drawing on more expensive models? Well, Apple has just answered our question, it makes perfect sense
If you go to the AirPods Pro2 page on Apple's website and scroll down to the bottom and find the small print, you'll find "Up to 1x active noise cancellation compared to Airpods Pro (1st generation) and Airpods4 features 2x active noise cancellation"So, it gives us our main answer: AirPods Pro2 blocks 4 times more noise than AirPods2
There's some good news out there, but it's hidden in some way — AirPods4 noise cancelling can be seen as as good as noise cancelling in the 1st generation AirPods Pro This is very encouraging because the ANC of these earbuds isn't as good as the follow—up, but they were still good at blocking the outside world
It just leaves a question - previous open earbuds that share design ideals with AirPods4 have less inner seal in the ear, so they're not as good as the earbuds It was terrible to block the noise Apple must have some incredible ploy to make it so good that those who have a hands-on experience of AirPods4 are amazed at its quality
But we still don't know how good it is — but you can bet your bottom dollar when we get the pair, we will test
