This week, there are new movies on some of the best streaming services, including Netflix, Max and Hulu, offering subscribers something fresh to watch over the next few days
My highlight of the week is the max debut of "Civil War"This dramatic thriller follows its eponymous war from a very unique perspective, set in an alternate United States torn apart by internal conflicts Other top picks this week include hulu's sneaky action movie "Boy Kills World" and Shudder's ultra-violent slasher "In A Violent Nature"
These are just the beginning of the top new movies you can stream this week, and you should not forget to check out our fellow articles covering the most popular streaming plats below and the best new TV shows of the week
"Robot Dreams" is based on a cartoon of the same name by Sarah Barron and follows a heartwarming friendship between a dog and his robot's best mate in New York City (yes, this animated film is very quirky) After doing everything together during a happy summer, two friends are torn apart when the dog is forced to abandon the robot on the beach (salt water and sea air are not perfect for metal robot parts), and the next thing is a nostalgic journey exploring friendship in all its forms
This delightful animated film, a blend of comedy and drama, was a hit when it premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival on May 5 and has received critical acclaim since It is especially admired for its ability to tell emotional stories without dialogue The whole story is told without a single spoken word It was also nominated for best Animated feature at this year's Academy Awards So, if you want to see something a little different this week, "Robot Dreams" is the ideal choice

I admit a great personal bias when it comes to "patella" This angry comedy film is set in Northern Ireland, a place that is very important to me because my whole family comes from a small corner of the earth Nevertheless, even without an Irish connection, "Kneecap" centers on the rise of the eponymous hip-hop band playing proudly in their native language
Naoise and Liam (played by their real-life counterparts) are 2 lazy people who grew up in West Belfast THESE SELF-DECLARED "SCUM OF LOW LIFE" CHANGE THE MUSICAL LANDSCAPE AS SOON AS THEY MEET A LOCAL TEACHER (JJÓDOCHARTAIGH, WHO ALSO PLAYS HIMSELF), FORMING AN ANARCHIST HIP-HOP GROUP Rap in their native Irish language, they face political pressure and media outrage over uncompromising lyrics But they also start a growing movement and find their real voice among all the noise

A heartwarming adventure film that shows the power of the human spirit, but most importantly starring a very good boy, "King Arthur" courage and determination Mark Wahlberg is an American endurance runner to compete in the Adventure Racing World Championship held in the Dominican Republic He plays Michael Wright Battling elements and uneven terrain, Michael and his team are pushed to their very limits
However, when they encounter a stray dog and name him Arthur, they are given a second wind and fresh inspiration As the team progresses, this faithful dog continues step by step and becomes like a lucky mascot when it competes to win the race (Michael's lifelong obsession) "King Arthur" is a heartfelt film that introduces the true meaning of victory and friendship What's more, it's a really good reminder of how great a dog is

If I had watched "Boy Kills World" when I was 14, I would have declared it probably the best film ever made This hilariously violent action movie is not afraid to get into your face, and its blend of brutality and immature comedy definitely appeals to everyone, but if you need over-the-top action, coupled with absurd humor, "Boy Kills World" hits the mark and is a funny ride It's a good idea
Set in a dystopian futuristic city, our protagonist is a deaf and mute young man (Bill Skarsgård) as a child during an attack that killed his entire family Trained in martial arts by a mysterious shaman, the boy sets out on a mission of revenge against the Van der Coy family, who took everything from him While the boy is muted, viewers will be able to see the "Bobsburger" actor HThrough narration from John Benjamin is given insight into his thoughts
Watch on Hulu from 9/13
You would probably assume that the thriller set during the Second American Civil War will focus on frontline combatants or perhaps set within the corridors of power that drive the war effort But writer/director Alex Garland chooses a very surprising perspective in his "Civil War" film Our window to this internal conflict is a group of photojournalists looking to take decisive shots of the war
"Civil War," starring Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny (who you may now be aware of from "Alien: Romulus") and Stephen McKinley Henderson, is a fascinating insight into the fictional conflict and the current destroyed society It is excellent Watch out for particularly memorable scenes involving Jesse Plemons as a gun-wielding soldier with an uneasy worldview
Watching at Max from 9/13
Speaking of unique perspectives, you've ever wanted to watch a horror movie from a point of view killer Then it will hurt that very specific itch "in a violent nature" This slasher doesn't try to hide its antagonists, instead making the audience aware of his movements at almost all times, and we take a front row seat to the next blood-soaked massacre
The plot itself is fairly routine, and watch a group of 10-year-olds accidentally resurrect a masked killer in the Ontario woods It's a good idea Instead of appreciating that these teens have awakened him from his slumber, the killer turns to a murder spree with a rusty hook as the weapon of his choice, and Thrasher fans will enjoy a new perspective on this genre, but a perturbed viewer who needs to warn that he will not stay away from Gore "in a violent nature" will stay away You have to stay
Watch Shudder from 9/13
When I first read the logline for Netflix's new movie "Uglies," I couldn't help but feel a sense of Deja Vu This YA sci-fi movie is set in a dystopian society of the future (they're not all, they're not all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're all,Which enforces strict beauty standards by requiring each citizen to receive cosmetic surgery at the age of 16 to ensure that they are "clean" It's a fairly accurate plot line "Twilight Zone" episode "Number 12 looks like you
Putting aside that intense familiarity, "Uglies" feels a bit out of time These young adult movies were all the rage around a decade ago, but have fallen out of favor ever since Perhaps "Ugles," starring Joey King as protagonist Tully Youngblood, rekindles the trend, but based on the trailer, it's certainly nothing worse than the genre's Staples, at least, or the adaptation of "Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones" or "Divergence"
Watch on Netflix from 9/13
