Hearing is extremely important If you can't hear, you can't listen to embarrassing pop playlists One of the easiest ways to damage your hearing is to listen to pop embarrassing playlists on your AirPods at high volume Apple wants to make sure that doesn't happen
(Hearing damage, not pop playlists You are free to listen to it)
The Glowtime show announced a lot of great things about the AirPods lineup (and some not-so-good things - looking at you, AirPods Max USB-C) Not just two pairs of new AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 2 were also announced with several new features aimed at improving hearing health
The features are divided into three different sections - “Prevention” aimed at stopping problems before they occur, “Awareness” to make people more aware of their hearing, and finally “Assistance” to help those struggling with their hearing
“Prevention” consists of several different features, including ANC and Bud passive seals to lower the volume of the music you listen to and prevent damage to your hearing According to Apple, the H2 processor in the earphones actually “reduces louder, intermittent noise 48,000 times per second This feature is on by default in all listening modes
Then there is AWARENESS, a hearing test that shows the health of your ears According to Apple, the test uses “a standard clinical approach called pure tone audiometry” and can be initiated from any compatible Apple device The test is interactive and easy to understand, giving you an overall picture of your hearing Finally, a personalized hearing profile is created for your AirPods Pro 2 and stored in the Health app This data can also be shared with your healthcare provider
Hearing test results can also be used for personalized listening and to adjust the sound profile of your AirPods Pro 2 to ensure excellent sound regardless of your hearing
Finally, for those with mild to moderate hearing loss, assistance can turn AirPods Pro 2 into a de facto hearing aid Apple says, “Using a personalized hearing profile from a hearing test, this new feature seamlessly transforms AirPods Pro into a clinical-grade hearing aid”
AirPods Pro earphones work in conjunction with games, movies, and other content, and can be used to help people with hearing loss hear better, clearer, and more clearly, better and clearer hearingAll of these new features will be available later this fall
