As an avid mystery fan, there is nothing I look forward to more than the new season of “Only Murders in the Building” on Hulu, one of the best streaming services The suspense, humor, and lovable quirky characters always keep me hooked from start to finish
So when Season 4 was released on Hulu with a very impressive score on Rotten Tomatoes, I knew I had to talk about it It's clear that this show is getting better and better, and the iconic trio will surely return for a winning season
Of course, I'm not the only one ready to dive back into the chaotic world of Charles (Steve Martin), Mabel (Selena Gomez), and Oliver (Martin Short) But if you're new to the series or just want to know if Season 4 is worth watching, I've got you covered Critics' ratings for “Murder in the House” Season 4 are as follows
But beware of spoilers as we delve into what happened at the end of Season 3
In a quick recap, “Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 ends on a dramatic note Fearing that Ben's (Paul Rudd) poor performance would ruin her son Cliff's (Wesley Taylor) Broadway show, Donna (Linda Emond) poisoned him with cookies in an attempt to incapacitate him However, it was actually Cliff who killed Ben In a heated exchange, Cliff becomes enraged and accidentally pushes Ben down an elevator shaft, leading to his tragic death
After the three friends solved the case and Cliff was taken away by the police, everyone involved in Oliver's play gathered for a celebration Saz (Jane Lynch), who had been Charles' stunt double, left the party to fetch a bottle of wine from his apartment When she got there, however, she appeared to have been shot dead Whether it was Saz who was targeted or Charles (or possibly someone else entirely) remains a mystery This will be the big question for Season 4!
The trailer for “Only Murderers in the Building” Season 4 also provides further insight It begins with the trio filming another episode of their podcast We then learn that a huge studio has plans to turn their podcast into a Hollywood blockbuster movie In other words, they seem to be indulging in the Hollywood lifestyle for a glamorous murder movie (which is actually an interesting concept)
“Only Murder in the Building” Season 4 currently has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes from over 25 reviews However, it should be kept in mind that only the first episode is currently available, so the rating could change once more episodes are released in the coming weeks
The Wrap's Matthew Cleese says: “Season 4 doesn't miss a beat in its commitment to delivering a compelling hodanit Dan Einav of the Financial Times, on the other hand, praised the show for “tackling themes of loss, loneliness, growing up, aging, self-doubt, and self-assurance without succumbing to seriousness, thanks to a light touch script and engaging performances”
The Daily Beast's Nick Shager put it simply, “More laughs than any small-screen comedy since last year's production”
There is one less positive review of this season Maddie Mussen of the London Evening Standard says: “It's fine for background, but honestly, maybe the building has finally had too many murders Oliver is definitely afraid”
