Five Netflix thriller miniseries.

Five Netflix thriller miniseries.

If you're anything like me, there's nothing better than sitting on the couch on a lazy weekend day, turning on Netflix (or the best streaming service) and binge-watching a mini-series.

Sometimes you just want to get caught up for a few hours in a winding--and, let's be honest, often melodramatic--storyline and take whatever wild ride you want with the characters from that show without having to watch through several seasons' worth of TV.

Netflix has a huge variety of shows that fit the bill, created with the binge model in mind. Below we've picked out five Netflix thriller miniseries that you can easily run through, including bold dramas, spy thrillers, and science fiction-inspired ones.

“Bodies,” based on Si Spencer's graphic novel, is a genre-hopping miniseries that will almost certainly get you hooked. It consists of eight, one-hour episodes, and if you're anything like me, you'll want to see how this mystery unfolds.

Essentially a police drama, but with elements of period drama, science fiction, and murder mystery, “The Body” begins with a detective who discovers a body after a chase in modern-day London. As she begins to investigate the case, her journey parallels those of three other detectives from different time periods (1890, 1941, 2023, and 2053), each searching for the truth about the same victim.

“Bodkin” is in seven parts, part mystery, part comedy, and makes for a spirited and entertaining watch. The story follows Dav (Siobhan Cullen), a determined investigative journalist, who finds herself in a tight spot at work. While her editor handles the situation, Dav sends her off to the Irish town of Bodkin.

There, Dav reluctantly teams up with true crime podcaster Gilbert (Will Forte) and his talented assistant Emmy (Robin Carra) as a trio for a new project to keep them out of the spotlight. As they investigate a decades-old disappearance, the team soon realizes that they may be delving into a much larger story than they initially thought.

Harlan Coben's name is virtually synonymous with thrillers, and the immensely popular “Fool Me Once” (Netflix's most-watched one of the most watched shows on Netflix) shows why. In this twisty thriller, Maya (Michelle Keegan), a widowed ex-soldier, discovers her husband Joe (Richard Armitage) alive on a nanny cam one day while visiting their daughter.

Naturally, Maya begins to search for answers. And her search for the truth coincides with that of her niece and nephew, who are searching for the truth about the murder of their mother, Claire Walker, and the unraveling of their relationship.

Already streaming. There's good news: Netflix's next Harlan Coben thriller, “Missing You,” has a release date.
