The Pixel Tablet3 will appear in 2027, with a design that could replace the laptop, and Google only has a small window to get the 2nd generation slate out of the door. Rumors about what to expect from the Pixel Tablet2 have been fairly light, but Google insider, who is talking to the Android Authority, said what to expect when the device hits store shelves

when it first came out in 2023, one of the few criticisms we had in the 4-star Pixel tablet review was the official Productivity Access.1 It is reportedly a lack of accessories, which could be one of those addressed in its successors.1 

The source said that the company is currently folding to support the tablet on a laptop-like table through the Pogo pin on the back of the device, which is very similar to other keyboard case accessories, such as the OnePlus Pad2 implementation in the photo below.

You may remember that around the release of the original tablet there were suggestions that Google was working on both the official stylus and keyboard accessories for the device, but these never showed up. When quizzed on their absence by the authority of Android, the source claimed that they were eventually scrapped over quality concerns— hopefully the same is true from the point of view of this program

software, Android is certainly in a better place to support serious productivity. The site says it's 16 months since the Pixel tablet was released, and given that the release date of the long sequel is still in the air, from desktop window support to an improved keyboard shortcut menu, more quality of life improvements may still arrive before it launches. It's a good idea.

The source says that the basic design of the Pixel Tablet2 is not much different from the first one, except for the possibility of repositioning the camera and a few buttons, but there are some upgrades inside.

The 1st is the improvement of the tablet camera. No details were provided, but you can expect advances in the quality of photos and videos taken with an 8MP, f/2.0 1/4-inch sensor - not a priority on tablets, but nice to have. 

More importantly, from a general performance perspective, we can also see that the age=ing Tensor G2 processor has been replaced by a new one. Although it is not clear how new it is yet..

The recently released Google Pixel9 included a Tensor G4 chip, but depending on when the tablet will be produced, you may get the next G5. Early reports suggest that the 2027 Pixel Tablet 3 will have a cheaper version of the tensor G6, so Google may choose the G4 so that generational differences are as noticeable as possible. 

As it went no-show at the recent Made by Google fall event, the release date for the Pixel Tablet 2 has not been decided. In the past, a 5-month release that matches Google I/O seems likely, but pixel9a is reportedly due soon on May 3, so it could be in the hands of an early adaptor.
