Demand for the Xbox Series X remains so high that Microsoft can now only produce so many consoles, making the Xbox Series X almost impossible to find However, there is another option
In honor of the New York Game Awards, Microsoft is auctioning off a unique Xbox Series X console on eBay and donating the proceeds to charity What's more, it is unique in that it will be signed by Xbox chief Phil Spencer
The auction started at $10, but within an hour it had already risen to $2,004 As of this writing, there are still 5 days and 12 hours left until the auction ends, with the price at $3,200 There is no doubt that prices will continue to rise over the next few days, especially in the final minutes of the auction
For reference, the retail price of the Xbox Series X is $499, but there are several auctions on eBay that will likely sell for more As of this writing, we saw one console sell for $690 (plus shipping) The highest price we saw was $770 (plus shipping) with two and a half hours left in the auction Other sellers are offering higher prices, but with no bids, there is no guarantee that they will sell
Either way, it means that the Series X that Spencer signed is insanely overpriced It's so overpriced that the winning bidder may not want to actually play it in case something goes wrong But at least the money will be donated to a good cause, not some random duffer manipulating an army of bots
The charity in question is the New York Video Game Critics Circle, a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged students in the Bronx and Lower East Side of New York City
