Realme Race Pro could be Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra killer - and it's up soon

Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra may soon be threatened by an unexpected rival, the Realme Race Pro Not only does this phone have impressive specs, but it could be released within a month

Its launch date is "after Chinese New Year," according to a post by Xu Qi Chase, president of Realme The Chinese New Year (often referred to as Lunar New Year in the West) begins on February 12 this year, so the launch date could be three weeks later

Realme is still a fairly new company and has not yet landed in the US However, it easily catches the eye by offering low-priced phones with flagship-level parts

Most recently, Realme launched the £279 (equivalent to about $383) Realme 7 Pro late last year, offering 65W of charging This is a charging speed only found on the OnePlus 8T in the US and is worth considerably more at $749 [But the Realme Race Pro surpasses that, offering 125W of charging, the company claims in its specs notice; it also has a 5,000mAh battery, so there seems to be no concern about running out of juice

Other specs are equally impressive On the back are three cameras with 64MP, 13MP, and 13MP lenses

Inside, there is a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB RAM, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage, and an Android 11-based OS There is no doubt that, at least as far as hardware is concerned, the Race Pro offers a flagship-class experience

Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra recently became our favorite Android phone thanks to its long battery life, impressive display, photography capabilities, and stylus support However, the Realme Race Pro has a much better display on paper due to its higher resolution and a much faster charging speed with the same size battery As such, it could be a stealthy Android competitor to Samsung's new flagship smartphone

However, instead of the Galaxy S21 Ultra's four cameras, the Race Pro appears to offer only three However, the Race Pro has the same size, storage, RAM, and chipset; if it can undercut the S21 Ultra's price, the Race Pro could be a winning combination

There is no guarantee that the Realme Race will be a killer phone based on the spec sheet alone However, if the Realme Race does well with most of its features and delivers a strong software experience, it could make a major upset at the top of the best phones list in the near future
