The iPhone 12 could be the Apple smartphone that triggers Android fans to switch to iOS phones
At least one-third, 331% to be exact, of the nearly 2,000 US Android users are considering switching to the iPhone 12, according to a survey conducted by online marketplace SellCell
One-third of users may not seem like much on paper However, Android, and iPhone users are often terribly loyal to their chosen mobile operating system This may be due to simple familiarity, having spent a certain amount of money on one ecosystem, or being an ardent fan of certain features not found on other platforms
It is therefore worth noting that 331% of Android users would consider switching to the iPhone So why would they consider such a change?
When asked why they would consider switching from Android to iPhone 12, 559% of the 680 respondents said it was the long software support offered by the iPhone that would trigger their decision to defect from the Android corps to Team Apple Fragmentation in the Android smartphone arena and the lack of a unified user interface and software version means that software support for Android devices is definitely a bit confusing
Taking Samsung devices as an example, there is often a significant wait until the latest version of Android is released before devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra get the new version
About 48% of respondents cited better privacy protection as one potential reason to consider moving to iOS This is not surprising given Apple's heavily publicized approach to privacy
And in third place, about 37% of respondents cited a smaller form factor as another reason to switch While Apple is rumored to be planning a 54-inch iPhone 12 mini, compact Android phones now seem to be few and far between Such a phone would likely be favored by those seeking a smaller phone that can be easily used with one hand
Other reasons cited for potentially switching from Android to iPhone 12 include better price, 5G connectivity, better features, and a better UI Many Android users will argue that Android customization is better than Apple's locked UI and that phones like the OnePlus 8 Pro and Samsung's Galaxy S20 FE have a set of high-end features at competitive prices It is believed that
However, there is no doubt that the iPhone 12 will be an impressive lineup At least according to leaked information so far, in addition to the aforementioned mini, there will be two 61-inch devices and a 67-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max all four models are expected to feature a new flat-edge design reminiscent of the iPhone 4
And all devices will use the powerful A14 Bionic chip found in the iPad Air 4 Standard iPhone 12 handsets will use two rear cameras like the iPhone 11, while the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max will use a triple camera array with an additional LiDAR sensor
There are conflicting rumors about whether the iPhone 12 Pro will offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, although the lack of a 120Hz display would see the iPhone 12 lose out to some of Android's top flagship smartphones, Time will tell if that will be a factor affecting the appeal of the next generation iPhone
Speaking of time, the iPhone 12 is scheduled to be unveiled on October 13, so Android fans eager to make the switch will only have a few days to wait
