The OnePlus 8T could offer a twin charging system, bringing a bigger charging upgrade than the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro
OnePlus sent out a teaser for the OnePlus 8T that showed a sort of rendering of the company's Warp Charging powering two batteries The twin charging system is something OnePlus' sibling company Oppo has been working on with its SuperVOOC charging technology And since the two companies share a production line, it was assumed that such a feature would be included in the next generation of OnePlus phones
In theory, a twin charging system would use a pair of small battery packs that the phone could charge simultaneously This would not only fill the entire phone's battery capacity more quickly, but would also reduce the increased heat that could be generated by increasing the wattage of the fast charger And it could boost the life of the lithium-ion battery
Currently, the OnePlus 8 Pro can charge a 4,510 mAh battery from empty to 70% in 30 minutes with Warp Charge 30T technology This is more wattage than Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra's 25W charger, which can charge a 4,500 mAh battery to 56% in 30 minutes
With its twin charging system, the OnePlus 8T could blow away its predecessor and other smartphones in terms of charging At least, that's what we can infer from the teaser video
However, OnePlus may simply be doubling the wattage of Warp Charge from 30W to 60W, reducing the OnePlus 8T's charging time After all, Oppo's flagship Find X2 Pro features the company's 65W SuperVOOC 20 fast charging technology
However, doubling the wattage does not mean doubling the charging speed, as electrical resistance increases as power increases; while some of OnePlus' technology is impressive, it does not appear to have broken the laws of physics
Therefore, a twin battery charging system seems likely If so, the OnePlus 8T would have a battery charging advantage over current phones It could also beat upcoming devices like the iPhone 12, which is said to support 20W fast charging
