New leaks suggest that the camera quality of Samsung's flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, will be upgraded significantly
A pair of new tweets from regular and reliable leaker Ice Universe detail the potential camera specs of the Note 20 Ultra There is reason to believe that this information is reliable
The first tweet points out that the Note 20 Ultra's maximum zoom will be 50x, not the Galaxy S20 Ultra's maximum of 100x We have heard this before from Note 20 camera leaks, but it is unclear why Samsung would go this direction
Optimization sounds like the right move; while the S20 Ultra's specs were impressive, the inherent difficulty of using high magnification on a phone, combined with a slow-focusing main sensor, made it a difficult phone to take good pictures However, the Note 20 Ultra is said to have a laser depth sensor, which should hopefully solve the latter problem and make it much easier to use
The second Ice Universe tweet shows some standard Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra cases; it's hard to compare the two phones side-by-side, as the Note 20 Ultra is a bit more compact than the standard Note 20, and the Note 20 Ultra is a bit more compact than the standard Note 20, but the Note 20 Ultra is a bit more compact than the standard Note 20 However, looking at the camera cutouts reveals a few things
The rear camera is clearly larger on the Ultra, presumably to accommodate the periscope lens and laser sensor previously discussed, but the periscope lens module would not fit in the standard Note 20's more compact cutout Other rumors suggest that the standard version will use the non periscope 3x zoom telephoto camera found on the S20 and S20 Plus, which is consistent with this view
The only other thing that can really be observed from these images is the location of the volume and power buttons on the right side of the phone Unfortunately, we do not know if these cases confirm the Note 20 Ultra's curved display rumor
Both Note 20 models will feature 120Hz displays, 5G support, Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 chipsets (depending on the country of purchase), and a redesigned S Pen stylus with several new features However, some major differences are rumored
The Note 20 Ultra will have a larger display, 687 inches versus the Note 20's 642 inches The Ultra will also likely have 12 GB of RAM instead of 8 GB, a larger battery, and a larger storage capacity
Samsung's new phablet is rumored to be announced on August 5, so it may be a few weeks before we see it in the flesh; the Note 20 is expected to join a number of new products, including the Galaxy Fold 2, the Galaxy Watch 2 smartwatch, and the Galaxy Tab S7 tablet
