Are you waiting for Google Pixel5? The old pixel just got these killer upgrades

The Pixel 5 may be the Google phone everyone is talking about, but the search giant's existing devices will see a fairly comprehensive update this week that adds features big and small

The first of the changes is the improvements made to the Adaptive Battery feature first introduced in Android Pie; Adaptive Battery predicts how long your phone will last on a charge and uses that information to properly adjust system resources to make it last as long as possible It is designed to last as long as possible

Google does not explain exactly how the Adaptive Battery has been improved with this latest degradation It simply means that even devices much older than the Pixel 2 can now have longer battery life, which is really useful considering how low the Pixel 4's durability is

Aside from the battery tweaks, Google has revised one of its digital well-being features, previously called "Wind Down," to a new iteration called "Bedtime" With this update, users will be able to set this mode to automatically activate when they go to charge their phones at night, and will also be able to turn it on and off from the phone's quick toggle pane

For those who have never used Wind Down, this feature will turn the phone's display to grayscale so that it does not light up overnight The new "Bedtime" tab in the Clock app will help users follow a healthier routine, especially during this odd time of year when many people are working from home

Google Recorder, one of the best Android apps and our favorite for recording and transcribing, gets even more useful with this update Users will be able to search, start and stop recording with Google Assistant commands Transcriptions can also be exported directly to Google Docs, making the transition from recording to final product more seamless

Pixels' personal safety suite will also be enhanced A new feature will allow users to set a scheduled check-in time, where they will be asked to confirm their safety In the unlikely event that they fail to do so, Pixels will automatically send out a simultaneous alert to their emergency contacts
