Is this really the iPhone 13? A new leak that claims to show what the back of Apple's 2021 flagship phone will look like is already causing disagreement
The original source is choco_bit, who have recently published a number of Apple leaks They tweeted an image of the iPhone 13's rear camera, further detailing what sensors make up the block
In terms of appearance, the image resembles what the iPhone 12 Pro is supposed to look like, with four camera sensors in a square bump The main difference is the fifth circle hanging below the camera bump
According to the second leak from choco_bit, these cameras are a 64MP main camera with 1x optical zoom and 6x digital zoom, a 40MP telephoto camera with up to 15-20x digital zoom, and a 64MP video camera designed for 21:1 aspect ratio video recording anamorphic camera There is also a fourth camera with a 40MP ultra-wide angle lens The camera is equipped with LiDAR 40, which may be an upgraded version of the LiDAR system used in the iPad Pro and believed to be included in the iPhone 12
If the leaks are true, these cameras would be a significant upgrade over what the iPhone 12 is believed to have Apple has used various 12MP sensors for the main camera on many iPhone generations, and the iPhone 11 Pro currently only has a 2x zoom
Meanwhile, rivals like Samsung's Galaxy S20 Ultra have 108MP main cameras and telephoto cameras with up to 10x optical zoom Still, the iPhone 11 Pro Max tops the list of best camera phones even with these obvious shortcomings, so Apple will be able to solidify its lead by improving resolution and adding new features
Choco_bit says to take both parts of this leak with a large pinch of salt, but that did not stop prominent leaker OnLeaks from expressing his disagreement In response, choco_bit admits that they too have doubts about the source and that the unit has not even been tested yet
Perhaps it is too ambitious of choco_bit to release this now, knowing that the design is very likely to be changed However, with iPhone 12 details already thoroughly leaked and other leakers eyeing the next big reveal for iPhone 13, we may see more of these in-progress designs
The iPhone 12 is expected to arrive in September, with a total of four models split into two regular iPhone 12s and two iPhone 12 Pros The regular models will have two cameras on the back, while the Pro models are expected to have three cameras and a LiDAR depth sensor All models will likely feature Apple's A14 processor, OLED display, and 5G connectivity
