MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are getting big macOS updates to extend battery life

From the MacBook Air 2020 to the 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple laptops have the best battery life of any laptop brand, but their sealed design does not allow for easy battery replacement

To help MacBook batteries last longer, Apple is rolling out a new update to macOS Catalina 10155 that includes new battery health management features

The software combines data such as battery temperature and charging history to estimate battery life It also uses that information to determine the total amount of charge supplied to your MacBook to extend battery life

This battery health management feature is available on all MacBooks with two Thunderbolt 3 ports This includes the new MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro However, older 12-inch MacBooks and 13-inch MacBook Airs do not support this feature

If you would like to be among the first to try this feature, it will be available as part of the macOS Catalina 10155 public beta Check Apple's beta software page for more information

Overall, this is a welcome feature for MacBook owners who want to protect and extend the life of their batteries I'll report back on my impressions after I try it out
