Xbox Series X Boss convinced that it would beat the PS5— here's why

The head of Xbox Series X confidently declared that he is not worried about competition, despite what Sony has revealed about the PS5

Speaking with Ryan McCaffrey on the IGN Unlocked podcast (via Wccftech), Microsoft's head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said that the Xbox Series X has a great strategy and the technology needed to beat the PS5 He explained that he feels that the Xbox Series X has a great strategy and the technology needed to beat the PS5

Regarding the price of the Xbox Series X at launch, Spencer said that Xbox will be flexible and not stray too far from the price of the PS5

"We're definitely going to keep our eyes open for launch, looking at what our competitors are doing, but we have a plan and we feel very solid about the plan," Spencer said 'I sat in a room with [McCaffrey] a long time ago and said I want to win I believe we have a plan to win"

Commenting on Sony's recent deep dive into PS5, hosted by Mark Cerny, the console's chief architect, Spencer had kind words for the Sony team's efforts

"I think Mark and the team did a really good job on the audio processing they talked about and their SSD technology is impressive and we like it We saw their work," Spencer said [But we gave a comprehensive view of our platform, from CPU to GPU, RAM, throughput, velocity architecture, latency, [and] backward compatibility," Spencer continued When I saw the final release, I felt even better about the choices we made with our platform" And I expected it to be so"

We expect both the PS5 and Xbox Series X to be in stores around November, in time for the holiday season While there are concerns about possible delays for both models, there currently do not appear to be any major obstacles to getting either to retailers in time And given Spencer's recent comments, we can't wait to see what hidden tricks both platforms will pull off to win the next-generation console war
