New iPhone 12 leaks suggest that the launch of Apple's new iPhone may be delayed significantly It also explains why all the unofficial designs we have seen so far look different
Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech shared on Twitter that he had heard about delays in Apple's manufacturing operations due to the coronavirus pandemic
As you can see below, he says that while things are getting back to normal in the supply chain, the damage is already done and we will see the iPhone 12 in October or November instead of the usual September
He explains that the iPhone 12 is still scheduled for mass production in May, but will not be ready for Apple's normal September launch This is because Apple has not sent an American executive to China to approve the final design This means that the prototype stage may not yet be complete, and Apple is already two months behind schedule
Since there is no final design yet, Prosser explained that the renderings and images seen on the Internet are a blend of various different prototypes chosen by artists into one design That explains why there are so many variations among them, but also means that we are unlikely to see anything particularly close to the actual phone we will see later this year
According to previous iPhone 12 leaks and rumors, Apple plans to release four iPhone 12 models this fall There will likely be two regular iPhone 12 devices in 54-inch and 61-inch sizes, and there may be two iPhone 12 Pro in 61-inch and 67-inch sizes all four iPhone 12 devices will reportedly offer 5G connectivity, a fast new A14 Bionic chip, improved improved cameras
The biggest difference between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will probably be the display (LCD vs OLED) and camera iPhone 12 Pro only is expected to feature a telephoto lens and a new time-of-flight sensor similar to the LiDAR scanner in the new iPad Pro
The iPhone 12 Pro is expected to have a telephoto lens and a new time-of-flight sensor similar to the LiDAR scanner in the new iPad Pro
This is not the first time an iPhone has missed its scheduled debut date As Prosser points out, the 2017 iPhone X was announced in September, but did not hit store shelves until early November Assuming that Apple will hold its annual iPhone event at the same time this year, there is a good chance that this will happen with the iPhone 12 as well
