Google Pixel4a photos will give you the first look at the iPhone9challenger

The Google Pixel 4a has been anticipated for some time and we have been wondering what it would actually look like, but until recently we could only see rendered images However, now we have what appear to be actual photos of Google's new phone, and the rumors appear to be true

Two images from Slashleaks (via PocketNow) show off the front and back of what certainly looks like the Pixel 4a

On the front, we can see that the bezels that have been a feature of the Pixel series are finally gone In its place are the punch holes that contain the selfie camera The bezel on the chin is still quite thick, but will be acceptable to most users The front camera sensor itself will probably be the same 8MP one found on the Pixel 3a and Pixel 4

On the back, we see the presence of the rumored square camera patch, a design cue adopted from the Pixel 4, where only one camera and flash module are featured, but the strong family resemblance between the main Pixel phone and the "a" variant helps to keep it

Between the camera and the Google logo at the bottom of the phone is a circle that houses the fingerprint sensor; the Pixel 4's Face Unlock system is perhaps too expensive to add to the cheaper Pixel 4a, and Google has made a less impressive decided to stick with a less impressive but still reliable option to unlock the phone

Since these images were posted by a new account, we cannot judge their reliability from the leaks they have made in the past What we can see is that these pictures look like the renderings we saw from OnLeaks and 91mobiles, which is hopefully good news

When the Pixel 4a launches, it will go up against the likes of Apple's rumored iPhone 9, which targets a similar price point of around $400, but with a powerful A13 processor, similar single rear camera setup, and all the benefits associated with iOS, will reportedly make it a worthy competitor According to rumors, Apple will include a Touch ID sensor along with a 47-inch display similar to the iPhone 8

Google was expected to unveil the Pixel 4a at the Google I/O conference on May 12, but Google I/O 2020 was canceled due to coronavirus concerns Nevertheless, Google has stated that it will go ahead with a digital version of Google I/O, so it is possible that the phone will be announced on what was supposed to be the first day of the event
