iPhone SE2 rendering looks a whole lot like iPhone8

If the rendered images of Apple's purported iPhone SE 2 design look anything like the real thing, fans of the compact iPhone better get ready to party like it's 2017 when the rumored phone finally arrives

Rendered images of the new iPhone SE 2 from @OnLeaks appeared today (January 7) on both the serial phone leaker's Twitter account and an exclusive iGeeksBlog article And the phone in these renderings closely resembles the iPhone 8 that Apple released in the fall of 2017

If you've been following the rumors surrounding the iPhone SE 2 (or the iPhone 9, as the new device could be called), this is not a surprise: analysts who track Apple's supply chain have reported that Apple will be using the 4-inch display to update the form factor, suggesting that the next version of the compact iPhone will feature the 47-inch screen found on the iPhone 8

The phone in the @OnLeaks renderings certainly looks a lot like the iPhone 8, with more rounded edges and a frosted glass back Presumably that means the iPhone SE 2 will support wireless charging, a feature Apple introduced with the iPhone 8

The headphone jack is not visible in these iPhone SE 2 renderings, but this is the case for Apple phones after the iPhone 7, which appeared a few months after the iPhone SE, and according to these renderings, the new phone will have a Lightning port

OnLeaks lists the dimensions of the iPhone SE 2 as 55 x 27 x 03 inches, which is essentially the same size as the iPhone 8 This older model is slightly thinner than the device OnLeaks is presenting It is unclear exactly what these renders are based on, but they correspond closely to all the rumors we have heard so far about the iPhone SE's successor, which is said to be in the works at Apple

The renderings do not attempt to capture what truly sets the iPhone SE successor apart from the iPhone 8 iPhone SE 2 is expected to be powered by the A13 Bionic processor, a significant upgrade from the A11 chip found in the iPhone 8 Not only is this a significant upgrade from the A11 chip in the iPhone 8, but it is also the same chipset that Apple uses in its iPhone 11 lineup

We will soon find out how accurate these renderings are; many of the iPhone SE 2 rumors have a new release in the first half of the year, with the iPhone 12 series expected to follow in September
