Disney Plus Premiere Access is back and distributing a movie Disney doesn't want to give away for free: Raya and the Last Dragon
Disney Plus Premiere Access debuted last fall with the premiere of Mulan This feature allows Disney to market the film through streaming services (to Amazon, Apple, and Fandango Now) to Disney Plus subscribers
With many theaters closed or restricted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Disney made the decision to release "Raya and the Last Dragon" through Premier Access Not all Disney films are headed to premiere access For example, "The Black Widow" is still scheduled for a May 7 release However, the family-friendly nature of "Raya and the Last Dragon" makes more sense to release it on Disney Plus
And there is another way to release the film in 2021, as Warner Bros is releasing a large number of major theatrical films on HBO Max Furthermore, users will not have to pay any additional fees; HBO Max costs $1499 per month, more than double the $699 Disney Plus
The protagonist of "Raya and the Last Dragon" is a fearless and passionate warrior princess (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran) who lives in a land where humans and dragons once lived together until monsters made them extinct When the last dragon is on the brink of extinction, Raya embarks on a mission to save Sisu (Awkwafina)
Disney Plus can order "Raya and the Last Dragon" for $30 This one-time price is on top of Disney Plus' $699 per month
Check out the teaser trailer:
