Samsung Galaxy S22 Release date and release date just tipped by the leader

The Samsung Galaxy S22 may not launch at the time we had hoped, according to a new release date leak

Jon Prosser (backed up by fellow leaker Max Weinbach) claims that the Galaxy S22 series will be released a day "late"; February 9 will be the day Samsung announces this year's flagship phone, not February 8 as Prosser had previously rumored is believed to be the date of the launch

However, the sale date has been pushed back a full week, to February 25 Bad news for those who wanted to get their hands on the phone without having to gamble on pre-orders

Prosser says the reason for the delay is Samsung's supply chain This probably explains why the retail release date has changed while the pre-order date (which is not dependent on having the physical unit at that exact moment) has not changed much

Let's hope this doesn't turn out like the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE This phone was supposed to come out in October of this year, or possibly even earlier But now it is rumored to be released in January, and had to fight months of production problems to get there

Delaying the Galaxy S22 launch has not delayed other leaks like this new image of the Galaxy S22 and S22 Ultra, which LetsGoDigital claims to have confirmed is authentic

The standard Galaxy S22 (white and silver on the right) appears to be a simplified Samsung Galaxy S21 The camera bump is still located in the upper left corner of the phone, but it no longer overlaps the phone's side rails and looks much flatter as well

The Galaxy S22 Ultra looks very different: the five camera sensors are not clustered in one block, but are all individually embedded in the back It also appears to be a built-in stylus, which we were told would be included in the S22 Ultra, rather than a separate accessory that could be purchased for the Galaxy S21 Ultra

That S Pen focus led people to believe that Samsung might rename the Ultra model the Galaxy S22 Note this year However, as the poster indicates, Samsung seems to be sticking with the existing Ultra name

We can also see the reddish bronze color of the Galaxy S22 Ultra It looks similar to the Mystic Bronze color that Samsung offered on the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Z Fold 2, but not exactly the same There were rumors that a red Galaxy S22 Ultra color would be an option, so perhaps this is what those rumors mean, rather than the bright color you might imagine

Then again, we won't get an official overview of the Galaxy S22 series specs until February 9 (as discussed above) Fortunately, there are already a bagful of leaks out there to help us get some idea of what to expect

One of the big changes is the new 606-inch and 655-inch device sizes of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus, which are noticeably smaller than the devices of the past few years Both models are also said to have significantly changed camera systems, including a 50MP main camera and a telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to have a wider, more square body shape (another similarity to the Galaxy Note phones) and, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra that came before it, will have the most RAM of any phone in this series3 Both models are believed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset in the US, but most other countries may use Samsung's new Exynos 2200 chip
