Here's what we know so far about "Murderers in the Building" Season 2

Hulu has not yet set a release date for "Murders in the Building" Season 2

Hulu renewed the show for a second season on September 14, just two weeks after its debut At the time, Hulu announced that the show was the most-watched original comedy on its premiere date and the most-watched comedy ever on the platform

Co-creator John Hoffman said in a statement, "Words cannot express how exciting it is to connect with our audience, to feel that we have already had enough success, and to have the opportunity to continue this show and its unbridled journey of mystery, comedy and empathy! I'm so excited to be a part of it So I'll shut up now -- a big thank you to all of you

The cast of Season 2 of Only Murder in the Building will be led by three of its stars: Steve Martin as semi-retired actor Charles-Hayden Savage, Martin Short as struggling Broadway director Oliver Putnam, and Selena Gomez as Mabel Morra, a young woman with design ambitions

They are likely to be joined by:

Less likely to return are Julian Schich as Tim Cono, whose murder has been solved, Nathan Lane as Teddy Dimas and James Cavalry as Theo Dimas This father-son duo is responsible for covering up the circumstances of Mabel's friend Zoe's death They also have a hand in stealing jewelry from the corpse; both were arrested in Season 1 Amy Ryan as Charles' girlfriend and Tim's killer, Yang, will probably also not be seen

In the finale of season 1, "Only Murderers in the Building," Mabel and Oliver break into Yang's apartment to investigate the theory that she was Tim Kono's girlfriend who murdered him They find the poison bottle and the emerald ring that Tim has been searching for years (to prove what really happened to Zoey)

Meanwhile, Charles confronts Yang, but is poisoned and can barely move or speak He crawls out to call for help to stop Jan from releasing gas throughout the building from a newly opened fireplace Mabel and Oliver find him and they all go to the basement to stop the gas Jan shows up with a gun, but Mabel uses her emerald ring to knock her out

Upstairs, the three celebrate and Mabel goes to get champagne Charles and Oliver get a confusing text message The scene from the beginning of episode 1 reappears: when the men rush to Mabel's apartment, she is holding a dead body, covered in blood It is Bunny, the leader of Arconia's board of directors She has been stabbed with Mabel's knitting needles, but Mabel is adamant that she did not kill him The police rush in and arrest the two Handcuffed, the two walk past the building's shocked residents

"Murders in the Building" Season 2 only centers on Bunny's murder and the trio's attempt to clear their names

"Our trio is on the hot seat at the end of season one," co-creator John Hoffman told Deadline They have to clear up their relationship with Bunny in the days before the events that take place at the end of the season" 0]

He noted that Oliver clashed with Bunny (because he didn't pay for the building) and that Charles was angry about being kicked out He also heard Mabel complaining

"There's a lot of stuff that's going to build around what happened at the end of season 1 and lead into 2," Hoffman previewed 'It's going to be more complicated and, in a weird way, more fun There's also a lot of pressure to solve the case," Hoffman foretold

He added that one of the questions the writers will explore is, "Why was Bunny in Mabel's apartment at the end of season one?
