Square Enix has released a new trailer for its upcoming action-RPG "Forspoken" for PC and Sony's new consoles
First unveiled last year under the working title "Project Athia," Luminous Productions' debut title will be a timed exclusive for the PS5 console for two years before moving to the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S Considering the giant dragons and other inhabitants that roam the world, such as those in Skyrim, the ability to do so is going to be sorely needed
Judging by Frey's reaction to the dragons and the sneakers she wears, she was probably dropped into Atia from a world not unlike our own The PlayStation blog also suggests this, describing it as an "otherworldly adventure" in which Frey, an "ordinary young woman," must survive One would assume that it is fairly new, as she "utilizes" her magical abilities
The trailer also showcases how quickly and efficiently Frey can navigate the terrain Her journey is littered with encounters ranging from wild animals to rather grotesque looking bipeds who seem to be mindless fodder for Frey to blast through, or magic-using companions who are trying to ruin her day
In a PlayStation blog post last year, the developers sought to "fuse the latest technology with art" and Forspoken emphasized that they are "taking full advantage of the exciting possibilities of the PS5 hardware with this project"
Forspoken will be available on PC and PS5 in 2022, which is about as narrow as the launch window can get for now
Gamers using Microsoft consoles will have to wait until 2024 for news of the release Until then, check out our roundup of the best PS5 games and the best Xbox Series X games
