Call of Duty could be too big for your PS4 — What to do here

Call of Duty could be too big for your PS4 — What to do here

The PS4's 500GB hard drive may not be enough to store all of the latest "Call of Duty" games

Developer Activision warns that fully updated versions of "Black Ops Cold War," "Modern Warfare," and "Warzone" may leave no room for other games on the PS5 However, there is a solution to this problem

There is only 407 GB of hard disk space available on a 500 GB PS4 If you have both games fully updated and all modes and packs installed, the new season 2 update may not be too much for your meager console to handle

If you have a 1TB PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro, Call of Duty's heavy game size won't be much of an issue, but you will still have to give up a large amount of HDD space

For reference, the "Black Ops Cold War" update is 105 GB on the console and the "Warzone" update is 179 GB These updates are substantial, meaning that the two already bloated games take up even more space

Activision suggests that users remove some "unused game content" if they want to successfully install both patches later tonight, and explains how to do so

In Black Ops Cold War, press R3 on the main menu and head to File Management You will then be able to delete content that is no longer needed

In Modern Warfare/Warzone, press Options on the main menu, then press the General tab, scroll down to Game Installs, and you will be able to select the content you wish to delete

However, Activision is only targeting PS4 owners, and it is unclear how the massive storage space required by Call of Duty will affect those playing on a 500GB Xbox One or Xbox One S

In any case, the process for removing redundant content appears to be similar to that of Microsoft's consoles

Of course, this would not be necessary if Call of Duty's file sizes were not astronomically large Many other games, including next-generation visuals, rarely reach the 100 GB mark
