Zone of Interest" Streaming Date: When is it available?

"Zone of Interest" was the big winner at the 2024 Academy Awards It was one of only three films out of all nominees to win multiple awards (2), following "Poor Things" (3) and "Oppenheimer" (7)

By all accounts, "Zone of Interest" was a deserved winner for Best International Feature Film and Best Sound, and many thought it should have won Best Director as well, but in the end it was Christopher Nolan for "Oppenheimer"

Now that it has won multiple Oscars, you probably want to see "Zone of Interest" for yourself If so, you're in luck As of February 20, "Zone of Interest" is available for streaming through pay-per-view video-on-demand (PVOD) services We recommend using Amazon or Apple for digital purchases or rentals, but if you have a preferred vendor like Vudu or YouTube, those options are also available

If you prefer to watch movies on the best streaming services, we have good news there, too: thanks to a deal between A24 and Max, we know that "Zone of Interest" will be available on Max We also know when it will be distributed Read on to find out more about the film and when "Zone of Interest" will be streaming on Max

Fair warning - this movie is not funny The Zone of Interest isn't fun, and it isn't easy to watch It is loosely based on Martin Amis' 2014 novel of the same name and stars Christian Friedel as Rudolph Hess For those not in the know, Hess was the infamous commander of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Nazi Germany

However, the film does not delve deeply into the horrors of what was happening inside the camp, where over a million people were exterminated in a government-enforced massacre Instead, the film focuses on Hess and his wife Hedwig (Oscar nominee Sandra Hueller) as they attempt to build a perfect life outside the walls of the death factory

Not that the horrors of the Holocaust do not creep into the film In fact, that is part of what makes "Zone of Interest" such a harrowing film Interspersed among the supposedly peaceful scenes are gunshots, a train carrying prisoners, the sounds of the infamous crematorium, and the visible human bones of Jewish prisoners But these are not depicted head-on, but as background noise The film instead shows how ordinary and normal mass murder was for families in Nazi Germany, and how they saw it as just a means to a better life

What I have just described may sound frankly awful, but I promise you that this is a must-see film As I mentioned before, if you don't want to pay to buy or rent it from a PVOD streaming service, you will have to wait until the movie reaches Max

The good news is that Max has confirmed that "Zone of Interest" will be released on Max on April 5 This is considerably earlier than expected and means that it may be released on Max before Iron Claw, an A24 film for Max that arrived on the PVOD streaming service just a week before Zone of Interest After all, Max may have decided to capitalize on his Oscar win
