If you're not a fan of scary If so, Netflix has a sizzling new romantic drama from “Erin Brockovich” screenwriter Susanna Grant, starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth Dern plays Catherine, a failing novelist who is in a rut after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend, a sculptor who has survived cancer A sunny retreat to Morocco seems like the perfect cure for writer's block

There she meets Owen (Hemsworth), a young man on a retreat with his girlfriend, and sparks fly despite the age difference After a few chance encounters, their friendship blossoms into something greater, and a life-altering love affair begins While unlikely to bring any new developments to the story, “Lonely Planet” is a gentle drama with two charming lead actors and an equally gorgeous setting that will be more than enough to keep viewers on the edge of their seats

From A24 and “The Speed Cubers” director Soo Kim comes this poignant documentary about a group of Korean divers, also known as real-life mermaids, who are trying to keep their vanishing culture alive

The Last Divers tells the story of Haenyeo, a famous diver from Jeju Island, South Korea For centuries, haenyeo have dived into the deep sea without the use of oxygen or any other specialized tools to harvest seafood for their community Today, most of the heños are in their 60s and 70s, but they are resilient and strong-willed, continuing their craft while inspiring the younger generation to protect their traditions and the ocean that sustains them This heartwarming documentary follows these inspiring mothers and grandmothers as they explore the deep bonds of friendship within their tight-knit community

M Night Shyamalan is back! This time with a new mystery thriller from “Topside” directors Logan George and Celine Held, set in the swampy rural town of Karnack, Texas, which is rocked by the disappearance of an 8-year-old girl Her sister-in-law Ellie (Eliza Scanlen) is determined to get to the bottom of it, which leads her to cross paths with Paris (Dylan O'Brien), a young local man still reeling from the death of his mother who had a seizure while driving and fell into Lake Caddo

As strange things begin to happen, their investigation reveals shocking facts about the lake and long-buried secrets While much of the plot is kept under wraps, it is clear from the trailer that there are sci-fi and time-lapse elements Also, given that it is a Shyamalan film, there are bound to be plenty of twists and turns

If watching A Quiet Place made you want to watch A Quiet Place: Quiet Place: Day One make you want to watch this franchise again, Quiet Place: Part II” is now available on Netflix, you'll be glad to know: just in time for the spooky season, ‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ is now available on Netflix In the sequel, the Abbott family, led by matriarch Evelyn, played by Emily Blunt, sets out with their three children to search for survivors in a world roamed by vicious aliens who hunt by sound

The cast this time around includes Cillian Murphy as an equally hardy survivor, an old family friend named Emmett, and Djimon Hounsou as the leader of an island colony of survivors who learn more in “Day One” Filled with pulse-pounding moments and characters you can't help but grow attached to, “A Quiet Place Part II” is a horror film with depth and heart that goes far beyond cheap thrills

When I was pondering what to get for my first tattoo a few years ago, the answer came to me while rewatching “Silence of the Lambs” every year I may have been too young to have seen Jonathan Demme's Academy Award-winning horror classic for the first time, in hindsight, but it was still a catalyst for my love of the genre Not to mention that much of the film is set in my home state of Virginia

Anthony Hopkins' iconic performance as Hannibal Lecter never fails to make my skin crawl Jodie Foster is equally captivating as Clarice Starling, a tenacious FBI intern given the impossible task of consulting a convicted cannibal to flush out a new serial killer on the loose known as Buffalo Bill Demy uses ingenious camera tricks to create a general sense of unease and to recreate the otherness with which Clarice struggles as one of the few women in her profession

A24's “Tuesday” tells the story of a mother (“Seinfeld Next Door” star Louis Dreyfuss in an unusually dramatic role) and her terminally ill teenage daughter (Laura Petticrew) The feature directorial debut of prolific short film director Dayna O Pusich was well received by critics (it currently has a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), but some warned that the second half of the film would go off the rails
