“Ted Lasso” has had few updates recently, but fans of the sports comedy-drama finally got some great news
According to MacStories writer and Magic Rays of Light podcast co-host Sigmund Judge, “Ted Lasso” will be returning for a fourth season on Apple TV Plus Of course, the streaming service has not officially sanctioned the show's return, but there have already been strong indications in recent months that it will return
In August, Deadline reported that Season 4 of “Ted Rathbos” would feature the return of key stars; Apple TV Plus has announced that Hannah Wadham, who played AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, former player turned coach Roy Kent Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, who took on the role of Leslie Higgins, AFC Richmond's friendly Director of Football Operations, have renewed their contracts with several key cast members
Now, Judge has revealed in a social media post that “Ted Rathbos” Season 4 is “scheduled to begin pre-production in January My sources tell me that the football drama will be back next year with a fourth installment, and filming in London will begin in early 2025!”
Apple TV
Apple TV Plus has yet to comment on season 4, and of course no release date has been set However, given the news so far, including strong indications that Apple wants to continue the show in some form, a season renewal may be on the way
Season 3 of “Ted Rathbos” ended with Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deciding to leave AFC Richmond and return to Kansas to be near his son, ending his life in England Rebecca (Waddington), after considering selling the club, chooses to keep it and begins to focus on her personal happiness, hinting at the possibility of a new love affair
Roy Kent (Goldstein) becomes the new head coach of AFC Richmond and shows growth as a leader, while Nate Shelley (Nick Mohamed) finds redemption and returns to the club after making peace with the team
If “Ted Rathbos” returns for a fourth season, he may explore life at AFC Richmond without Ted The focus may shift to Roy as head coach, navigating the team's future challenges, and Nate's ongoing redemption arc Rebecca's evolving personal life and role as club owner may also take center stage
For those worried about Ted not returning, the series will likely revisit him in Kansas, balancing his life as a father with his lingering relationship with Richmond It is also possible that he will remain in a small role (possibly a cameo), given that his story arc felt complete at the end of season 3 Either way, we'll have to wait until Apple TV Plus officially announces the next season
