New Netflix Romantic Comedy Show Launches - 95% Rating on Rotten Tomatoes

It's been a while since Netflix has released a standout romantic comedy in a crowded market However, “Nobody Wants This” has arrived on the streaming service and looks to be the latest hit As a fan of fun romantic comedy series that don't take themselves too seriously, I'll be the first to watch this one

This feel-good rom-com seems to have all the makings of easy viewing; it's almost certain to make Netflix's Top 10 (it's already at #2) and is even strong enough to compete for #1 with the hottest new shows Critics have called it “electric,” praising its sharp humor, standout performances, and the “crackling chemistry” of its leads

Though it has only just begun, “Nobody Wants This” already feels like a strong contender for the next No 1 show on the streaming circuit With an appealing premise and spare charm, it could be the binge-worthy hit viewers have been waiting for So here's what you need to know about this rom-com, and what critics are saying about it

“Nobody Wants This” is a romantic comedy show about an unlikely romance between an agnostic podcaster, Joanne (Kristen Bell), and a newly single rabbi, Noah (Adam Brody) They meet at a mutual friend's dinner party and immediately fall in love, but their relationship faces challenges, including lifestyle differences and family interference

The romantic comedy is based on the true story of how the show's creator, Erin Foster, met her husband With plenty of humor and heart, the film explores how love can truly bridge such stark differences

As mentioned above, Nobody Wants This has only recently appeared on Netflix, but it has already received an impressive 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes (as of September 27) Several early reviews of the show have been published, all of which are quite favorable

The Guardian's Lucy Mangan called it “a hilarious rom-com” and said it was “the funniest, sweetest, shabbiest, most romantic, and most realistic of the bunch” Meanwhile, Mike Hale of The New York Times praised the touching performances: “Bell and Brody, who have played these roles before, make a great duo As the pressure on Joanne and Noah's relationship reaches its peak at the end of the season, you want to root for them”

Most of the praise seems to be directed at the strong chemistry between Bell and Brody, which AV Club's Saloni Gajjar found “surprisingly refreshing to watch,” due to how the characters navigate such an unexpected relationship: “Noah and Joanne obviously really want this [relationship] to work out And if Brody and Bell had not sold this feeling, the show would not have been as believable and engaging"

Not all reviews were so favorable, however Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter described the show as “as devoted to stereotypes as it is to sitcoms” and “an irritatingly uneven rom-com But they did not dislike the show entirely, concluding their review with this: “For the show's title, it's not that I don't want this In fact, I want it very much But to mention a rom-com with no context at all is It's complicated"

I'm not sure I'd like to see a title for the show that is not in the context of the show

I didn't need to see the reviews to know that I'll be binge-watching all 10 episodes of Nobody Wants This as soon as possible; it looks like the refreshing rom-com that Netflix subscribers have been waiting for, and I hope it at least gets a few days at #1

Sure, it may not be the most groundbreaking show ever, but the unique combination of sex podcaster and rabbi creates plenty of room for hilarious moments and deep conversations about relationships and faith An added bonus is the undeniable chemistry between the leads
