The hugely popular game show “Password,” in which celebrities and regular people alike are challenged to decipher a magic word, returns to UK screens on Saturday nights, with VPNs allowing viewers to watch weekly episodes from anywhere and for free!
Originating in the US in the early 60s, the simple but addictive format of “Password” was quickly adapted for the British TV screen, where it aired for 25 years After being revived in the US a few years ago by executive producer Jimmy Fallon, it once again crossed over to the UK, where it aired for seven episodes on ITV
Stephen Mangan (“The Green Wing”) becomes the eighth host of the British version, trying to control a team captained by comedians Alan Carr (“The Talkative Man”) and Daisy May Cooper (“This Country”) With a jackpot prize at stake, the two give the team word-for-word clues to guess a secret password But of course, Kerr and Cooper's brains may not work as well as the contestants'!
“‘Password’ is a fun format that is wonderfully complemented by the wonderful on-screen trio of Alan, Daisy, and Stephen,” says Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's head of entertainment production She hopes the rebooted game show will be a huge success in the UK, just as the version hosted by Keke Palmer was a huge success in the US
