Horror films dominate the top 10 Prime Video views. It is the spooky season, after all. If you're looking for something scary this October, these rankings are a good place to start.
However, a top ranking in Prime Video's Top 10 does not guarantee the quality of a film. For example, the streamer's new thriller “Killer Heat” holds the #2 spot but has been rejected by critics and audiences alike. So I'll take a stab at this motley list and bring you Prime Video gems that are worth streaming. Rest assured, this list is not limited to horror films.
So here are three of Prime Video's top 10 (as of 7 a.m. on Friday, October 18) that you should watch right now. While I have a strong stomach for on-screen violence, I find the infamous brand of comedic brutality a little too cowardly. However, I will admit that this indie horror series is gaining steam, and the fact that “Terriformer 2” currently holds the top spot in the Prime Video Top 10 (with “Terriformer 3” in first place at the box office) is a reason not to ignore it in this roundup.
The first “Terrifier” is also in the top 10 (currently #5), but we chose the sequel because it is more complete and clearly a fan favorite. After the events of the original “Terifer,” the almost impossibly evil clown Art (David Howard Thornton) returns to Miles County, where a sinister slasher villain torments a teenager named Sienna (Lauren LaVera) and her young brother (Elliot Flamm) Terrifire. Terrifier 2 is a very violent horror film, so expect to see a lot of guts and gore.

Fans of “John Wick” should not miss “Monkey Man. Dev Patel's directorial debut, this pulse-pounding action thriller is full of energy that will leave you feeling a little giddy. The core story is predictable, and a sloppy second act brings the momentum to an unfortunate halt, but every single action sequence is great to watch, all leading up to a high-stakes finale that is spectacular in its own way.
“Monkey Man” follows a protagonist named Kid (Patel) on an angry journey of revenge. Making his living in an underground fight club, instantly recognizable by his trademark gorilla mask, he knows not only how to take a beating, but also how to beat it. When he discovers how to infiltrate the city's elite, he finally gets his chance to exact revenge on the men who took everything from him. The Monkey Man has some of the best action scenes of the year, and the exploration of the fictional Indian locations is fantastic, not to mention the cinematography is superb.”

If “Terrifier 2” and “Monkey Man” are a little too extreme for you, “IF” is the perfect family-friendly alternative. Directed by John Krasinski, the film is a big-hearted adventure with a simple yet charming message about the importance of not losing your child's mind. The film also features well-known voice actors such as Steve Carell, George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Blake Lively, Emily Blunt, Bill Hader, and Keegan-Michael Key, who lend their voices to a large cast of CGI-created characters.
In the film, a young girl, Bo (Cary Fleming), moves into her grandmother's New York apartment when her father is hospitalized awaiting major heart surgery. As she adjusts to her new surroundings, she meets her eccentric upstairs neighbor Cal (Ryan Reynolds) and discovers that she can see other people's imaginary friends. When she realizes that these imaginary friends (a.k.a. “IFs”) have been forgotten by her grown children, she and Cal set out to reunite them with their creator.
