“Daredevil: Bourne Again” will officially open next March on Disney Plus.
Marvel hosted a “Marvel Fanfare With CB Cebulski” panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, featuring several MCU stars (h/t Variety). Specifically, Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kimpin) participated, and it soon became clear why.
The stars' surprise appearance was quickly justified when the panel revealed that Marvel's Daredevil will be released on Disney: Born Again will be released on March 4, 2025 on Disney Plus. This is in line with Disney's previous announcement in an upfront presentation to advertisers that the sequel to Netflix's “Daredevil” would be available in March 2025.
Marvel also released a sneak preview of the new show at NYCC in the form of a 2.5 minute trailer. This trailer has not yet been released to the public, but has been leaked on X (Twitter).
“Daredevil” may or may not be the next MC: Whether or not “Born Again” is the next MCU show, it is certainly the most anticipated show slated to air after the currently airing “Agatha All Along”. Below is a brief synopsis of the trailer, revealed for the first time, and which characters are viewers' favorites.
Spoilers for “Daredevil”: spoilers for “Daredevil: Born Again” follow
The official synopsis for Marvel's “Daredevil: Born Again” follows: the synopsis for “Born Again” reads: “Matt Murdock (Cox) is a highly capable Matt Murdock (Cox) is a highly capable blind lawyer fighting for justice in a bustling law firm. Meanwhile, former mob boss Wilson Fisk (D'Onofrio) pursues political activism in New York City. As their past identities begin to emerge, both are on an inevitable collision course”
.
And the first leaked trailer teases a “David versus Goliath” battle between Murdoch and Fisk. At the 1:30 mark of the trailer, we also get a glimpse of a sinister confrontation between the two, foreshadowing an epic showdown in the upcoming season.
But first, two key characters are revealed. Of course, we knew (or at least had it on good authority) that these two characters would appear. But seeing them in the flesh is ...... Something different.
First to appear is Hector Ayala, wearing a White Tiger suit around the 20 second mark. Kamal de los Reyes is slated to play this Hispanic superhero, but his untimely death from cancer in 2023 may complicate Marvel's original plans for the character. Nonetheless, when Reyes donned the white suit, the audience cheered loudly.
Another who got a big cheer from the NYCC crowd? Surprisingly, it was John Bernal as Frank Castle, the Punisher. Bernal had already been confirmed to reprise his role as Castle in “Daredevil: Bourne Again,” but his appearance as the angry man holding a hatchet and tightening Murdoch's throat on the rocker did not dampen the excitement.
