Today, Apple launched the next iteration of the iOS 18.2 developer beta, bringing many new Apple Intelligence features to devices.
We already knew what was coming with the latest operating system update, so there is nothing new in this iOS 18.2 beta. However, it does improve functionality and introduces a waiting list to access Apple Intelligence's image generation tools.
One difference is that anyone with an iPhone capable of running iOS 18 can access the beta. However, Apple Intelligence is still limited to the iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro models.
If you have not signed up for Beta 1, the Apple Intelligence tools offered in iOS 18.2 include:
Aside from the Apple Intelligence feature, iOS 18.2 includes a redesigned Mail app for all several new tools.
However, not everyone will have access to the image generation features right away; according to Mac Rumors, early access to Apple Intelligence image generation apps like Image Playground is on a waiting list. Apple will be rolling out access to AI tools over the next few weeks.
The beta version is currently limited to developers, with a public version expected to be released between now and December. It is also available in localized English only in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Ireland.
Apple is testing image generation features available in Genmoji, Image Playground, and Image Wand during this round, which will determine when the public beta will launch.
Access to Apple Intelligence features requires an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 model.
A full iOS 18.2 update should appear in December along with updates to iPadOS 18.2, macOS 15.2, watchOS 11.2, tvOS 18.2, and visionOS 2.2.
